Julizza has always seen something in people that others sometimes miss.
She has this quiet way of recognizing beauty beyond the surface—of noticing the depth, the story, the dignity in each person. It’s not something she turns on for her work… it’s simply how she sees the world. She truly believes that every person is created with intention, and that kind of beauty deserves to be seen, remembered, and honored.
That belief is what shapes everything she creates.
Her portraits aren’t just about how someone looks—they’re her way of showing people who they are. Reminding them that they are beautiful, that they are valuable, and that they are deeply loved.
She’s also one of the hardest working people I know.
That comes from her parents. Her father, Homer C. Gómez, and her mother, Dolores Gómez, instilled in her a deep sense of humility and discipline from a young age. Her father’s influence is something she carries with her every day. It’s even reflected in her studio’s anchor symbol—a quiet reminder of strength, faith, and the steady presence he was in her life.
Julizza is also a wife and a mother first.
She’s married to her husband, Michael Martinez, who shares her passion for portraiture, and together they’ve built something truly meaningful. But at the center of it all are her two children, Rio and Lathan. They are her greatest joy—and everything she’s building is, in part, so they grow up knowing what’s possible for their own lives.
At the heart of who she is, though, is her faith.
She doesn’t separate it from her work or her life. She gives all glory to God—for every opportunity, every piece of art, and every life she’s able to touch through what she does.
And when you experience her work, you feel that.
